Vault-Tec Genetic Diversity Calculator mk2
I wrote this with heavy help from ChatGPT to simulate the effects of inbreeding in a fixed population. I saw the Fallout TV series’ first episode and noticed that it has “trades” between 200 person vaults to support “genetic diversity” and I went “huh, is that real?”. So here it is!
All of the code is in a single HTML document, so feel free to download it if you like. I don’t expect anyone else to care about this, but it is somewhat interesting to me.

As you can probably tell. And when I learned that : codes, also known as shortcodes, were part of the markdown spec and not just something that began existing in discord and other platforms, I knew I had to make something that made that possible in HTML. So, I made a script that scans through the entire document and dynamically replaces anything with : on either side of it with an emoji from github. And, the best part, is if the :colon_code_doesnt_match: it does nothing, but as you can tell, this one does something 🙂
Unfortunately, there has to be a little delay for it to work properly on all pages. But I dont think it is that noticable. Also…

Finally, here’s a list of all of the emoji. It’s pretty easy to make the list bigger as new emoji get released or to add custom ones. Simply take a look at either of these two links.
